Safari Bobs Graduate School Site

Currently, this website is a reflection of a few of my interests but concentrates on the discipline of technical communication and rhetoric. Technical communication is a contested term; no standard, or universally accepted, definition of this writing discipline exists to date. I define technical communication as: providing specific, usable information to a specific audience for a specific purpose. Certainly this definition is not comprehensive but serves as a starting point for discussion.

A Short Bio

Safari Bob Within the overall context of the discipline of TCR, I am (at this point) most interested in research methodology and pedagogy--the study of teaching. One day I hope to evolve into a professor of technical communication and rhetoric. In fall 2006, I began the Ph.D program in TCR at Texas Tech and I hope to complete my degree in four years.

Other than TCR, I am interested in Religious Studies, archaeology (primarily Native American), astronomy, philosophy (especially Kierkegaard), kapnismology, and paleontology. My hobbies include brewing mead, Go Ju, bicycling, football, and baseball. I also subscribe to a variety of "podcasts" and may soon experiment with a podcast of my own.

Look around and enjoy! Please feel free to contact me if you are (1) interested in Tech Comm (or any avocation represented on this website), (2) not a spammer/solicitor, (3) not any of my ex-wives or their attorneys, (4) a mazer, or most especially (5) Lucy Lui. Wassail!
